With just 15 and a bit minutes of match time in the morning, there was a big gap to fill on Tuesday afternoon; this being the first week of the grass court season, there was plenty to fill it with.

After a quick shower and change, a freshly shaved and coiffeured Andy headed to the gym to get down to some hard work with Jez Green and Matt Little.

The gym is a pretty tight space down at Queen's in tournament week; jammed with players and their respective trainers all sneaking in a bit of extra work.

The idea with strength and fitness stuff is that you do the bulk of it over the winter, then top it up when you can during the season. You can only plan so much of that, but they get an amazing amount done.

High spirits all round yesterday. Andy and Matt Little engaged in a bit of shadow boxing.

After a bit of lunch, Andy and Dani headed out for a hit on one of the practice courts.

The contrast between outside and 'in' at Queen's is huge: one minute you're in the relative tranquility of the player only areas, the next you're watching him take five minutes to move 50 metres amid the autograph hunters and well-wishers. Think he loves it though; after all, not every player gets that kind of support.

Dani's mum and aunt are coming over from Venezuela today. They've never been to London before, and I guess watching your son or nephew on a show court is as good a way as any to settle in...

No spectators for practice, just a couple of old guys who'd missed their SAGA bus home...
