Andy and his team have arrived in Tokyo ahead of the Rakuten Open, the first stop on a two-tournament Asia swing before the Tour heads back to Europe and ultimately the World Tour Finals in London.
After a well deserved break at home, Andy spent the week before departure getting back up-to-speed at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. It didn’t take long for any ring rust to fall away.
Under the watchful eye of Dani Vallverdu, the week culminated in practice sets against regular sparring partner Jamie Baker. Strength and Conditioning coach Matt Little even managed to sneak in a Yoga session the morning of their flight to Japan.
The defending singles and doubles Champion, Tokyo will prove a tough test on Andy’s return to the Tour after the US Open.
He plays Gael Monfiils in the first round of the singles draw, whilst he and Jamie will take on Butorac/Nieminen in their opening doubles match.
