ADIDAS CALL ON FANS TO SMASH THE SILENCE AT SW19
The 137 year old tournament is known for its sellout crowds and the excitement it generates for tennis across the world. adidas wants to encourage fans, whether they are watching from the stands or cheering players on from home, to tweet using #smashthesilence which will allow support for players to be harnessed across the social platform.
When the support hits a crescendo adidas will unlock prizes to reward the most vocal and creative fans. The best tweets will be recreated and celebrated by adidas, as well as supporters receiving prizes including tennis equipment and merchandise signed by tennis stars.
Fans who go above and beyond to #smashthesilence will have the opportunity to win the ultimate prize for a tennis fan – the chance to meet the defending Champion Andy Murray after this year’s tournament.
The two time Grand Slam winner has also been featured in a short film, unveiled today, to help launch the #smashthesilence campaign. The film is live on YouTube now.
Andy Murray said; “I’m really looking forward to returning to Wimbledon and starting the defence of my title. The support I got last year was unbelievable and I’m hoping the public will get behind me again. The smash the silence campaign is a great way to help build excitement around the tournament and the short video, which Kevin Spacey very kindly got involved with, will hopefully encourage people to get involved.”
