Andy is through to the fourth round at Wimbledon after a 6-1 6-4 6-4 win over Gilles Simon that puts him in into the second week without having dropped a set.
He will now face Queen’s Club champion Sam Querrey for a place in the quarter-finals.
The 26th seeded Frenchman had lost his last three matches to Andy in straight sets, and he endured another torrid time on Centre court, failing to muster a single break point.
With Rafael Nadal’s match going to five sets Andy looked in no mood to play under the roof after their 7pm start, wrapping up the first set in just 23 minutes.
Simon fared little better in the second, and despite edging the contest on winners he never recovered from an early service break to love.
With Andy serving out the set amidst darkening skies, he then scored the decisive break in the ninth game of the third.
With Simon’s resolve broken, he calmly served out the match with an ace after one hour and 50 minutes to cap what he feels has been a great first week.
“It was really good.” said Andy. “Didn’t lose a set. Yeah, I didn’t lose my serve since the second service game of the first match. So it’s been good.
“Tonight was tough ‘cause obviously it was getting pretty dark towards the end. If I hadn’t managed to close out in that third set, would have had to have gone off, waited for the roof to go on. So a little bit tentative around 3‑All, but I played really well.”
