Andy takes on Tim Smyczek in his opening match at the ATP 250 event in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Smyczek should be match tight after coming through qualifying, and will play in front of a home crowd on the UCLA campus.
Andy played two practice sets on Wednesday, but is wary of the threat posed by the American as he looks to make the quarter-finals.
“He is playing some of the best tennis of his career,” said Andy. “He is very quick and doesn’t make too many mistakes. He is going to make it difficult for me.”
