After beating Tim Smyczek in his opening match of the ATP event in LA, Andy spoke afterward of the potential threat posed by his next opponent, Alejandro Falla.
He takes on the Colombian expecting a tough test from a guy who took Fed to five sets in the first round of Wimbledon.
“It’ll be difficult,” said Andy of the world No. 65. “He obviously had a great match against Federer at Wimbledon and he had a good win against Gulbis today.”
But just as Smyczek wasn’t a completely unknown quantity, neither is the Colombian.
“I actually played him in a challenger in Binghampton,” added Andy. “It was in the final there when I was 18. That’s the only time I’ve played against him.”
“He’s a really nice guy and hopefully it’ll be a good match.”
