Andy is through to face Victor Hanescu in the third round of the Madrid Masters 1000 after a 6-3 6-3 win over Juan Ignacio Chela.
He’ll face Hanescu on Thursday (3rd after 14:00 local time), a player he beat in Monte Carlo last year.
Speaking to Sky on court afterward, he felt he’d hit the ball as well as he had “in a long time.”
The quicker conditions at altitude certainly helped, but a tally of 30+ winners in the match reflected a solid performance all round.
“Right now im focusing a lot on how I’m playing,” said Andy. “I played well today. I want to get back to feeling comfortable on the court. It felt good today, a lot better than in Rome even”
