Ferrer Wins in Madrid

Andy has gone out of the Madrid Masters 1000 after a 5-7 3-6 defeat to David Ferrer at the quarter-final stages.
The Spaniard – winner of more clay court matches (20) than anyone else this year – emerged victorious in 2hrs 11 minutes, and you might not see a better match all week.
Both players produced moments of brilliance, but Ferrer edged the big points in a contest that had all the elements of a prizefight.
Despite the defeat, Andy’s week ends on an upwards curve and Ferrer now becomes Federer’s problem in their Saturday semi-final.
