Andy has identified the return as the aspect that may determine his fortune against big hitting Tomas Berdych in their fourth round match on Sunday.
The Czech’s comprehensive 6-2 6-2 6-1 win over John Isner places him in the fourth round of the draw for only the second time, but at least Andy knows what to expect when they walk on Suzanne Lenglen in the last match of the day.
“He’s a big guy with a big serve,” said Andy. “He hits the ball hard and flat. He takes a lot of risk. He plays low‑percentage tennis maybe. But that’s how he’s always played. He doesn’t feel uncomfortable going for his shots, so you probably don’t have to run a lot.”
And against that type of player, Andy knows the return game has to be strong.
“He’s got a big serve, so he’s a tough guy to break. So I need to return well, and, you know, that’s kind of it.”
