Andy will take on the World No. 147 Kevin Anderson in the first round of the Aussie Open, after the South African earned his way into the main draw after beating Germany’s Simon Stadler 6-2 6-4.
Andy has never played Anderson – who stands 6ft 8 inches tall – on the Tour.
Their match will be third on Rod Laver court, Monday, and BBC2 will have LIVE coverage in the UK.
“I feel pretty relaxed mentally about it and physically I feel good,” said Andy.
“You never know when it’s the right time, but I feel ready. My game is there and I think I’ve got a really good chance.”
Talk in the last 24hrs has focused on what appears to be a tricky draw with Nadal lurking in the quarters.
But Andy isn’t looking much further than a first-time clash with World No. 147 Kevin Anderson right now.
“I need to make sure I win my first match and get to the quarter-final for it to be a problem,”
“If I lose in the third round it’s no use if Nadal is in the quarters. I feel if I do get there I have a good chance against any of the guys.”
