Meeting Real Madrid

Andy broke off from his training camp at the UCLA campus to meet another team using the same facilities: Real Madrid.

Coach Jose Mourinho and his team are using the venue as a training base on their US pre-season tour, and the club kindly invited Andy along to watch them train on Thursday. He was impressed with what he saw, and their new coach in particular.

“I love Mourinho,” said Andy. “When he left England everyone was very sad. The media speak about him all of the time and he’s obviously one of the best coaches. It’s going to be very interesting to see how he does, but he has some great players.

The former Chelsea manager and his star players – Christiano Ronaldo included – exchanged greetings, compared notes, and paused for camera phone snaps alongside their visitor. A huge football fan himself, Andy was taken aback by the interest.

“I get very nervous because I watch them all of the time on the TV,” he admitted. “It was really cool. It was really nice of them to let me come and watch a little bit of their practice.”
