Andy’s Wimbledon run has come to and end after Rafael Nadal won their semi-final 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 6-4.

The world No. 1 will now face Tomas Berdych in Sunday’s final after the 12th seed beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

As Nadal admitted afterward this was a match defined by a handful of points. There were some outstanding passages of play from both players, but it was Nadal who came out on top in the key moments.

“I didn’t play a bad match at all,” said Andy afterward. “He played great (today), and that was the difference.”

Despite the defeat, Andy’s backing the Spaniard to go on and lift the title for a second time.

“I love watching him play,” said Andy. “He’s my favorite player to watch. That’s why I enjoy playing him so much. So I hope he wins.”

The compliment was returned by Nadal, who feels Andy deserves a Slam title.

“He’s a very nice person, very good person,” he said. “I am sure he’s gonna win a Grand Slam very soon, because when you have final in US Open, final in Australia, semi-finals here this year and the last year, you are there all the time. So one day you win. I am sure he gonna win. He deserve to win.”

And that’s a sentiment echoed by David Beckham who watched the match on Centre Court.

“Andy was unlucky,” said Beckham. “It was a close match with only a few points in it. It was a great effort and I’m sure he’ll win Wimbledon soon.”
