Andy is through to the semi-finals of the Rogers Cup after a comprehensive 6-2 6-2 win over the Tour’s hot player, David Nalbandian.

He’ll now play Rafa Nadal who came through in three sets against Phillipp Kohlschreiber.

The Argentine came into the match on an eleven game winning streak, but he was given a torrid time by Andy in a match he cited as perhaps his best since Australia.

Comprehensively winning the touted battle of the backhands Andy outplayed Nalbandian in every department, with a first serve percentage of around 65 per cent providing an unbreakable platform.

“I served very well today and dictated a lot of the points from the start,” said Andy, who declared himself more than happy with his form.

“It’s the best I’ve played in a long time, maybe since Australia.”

“I just want to sort of free up and play my game. Today I went for my shots – I played big tennis and I hit the ball well.”
