Andy’s run at the US Open has come to an end after a third round, 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (4-7) 3-6 3-6 defeat to Stanislas Wawrinka.
Both players received medical treatment in the match, but it was the Swiss who came through in 3 hours and 56 minutes.
“He played better than me,” said Andy. “There’s not a whole lot more to it. He had a chance to win the first set; didn’t take it. I had a chance to win the second set; didn’t take it. I just struggled from then on.”
